I. Which tools to choose?
Although there are many free solutions out there, most of them are either free trial versions or only allow you to convert a limited number of pages. However, suppose you have a desktop version of Microsoft Word 2013 or newer. In that case, you could transform your PDF document to an editable Word format for free without the need of loading your documents on a vendor’s website or worrying about how many pages you could convert.
II. Understanding the conversion quality.
If you are converting to Word using the Microsoft Word method or many other methods out there, the result could vary depending on how the original PDF file was created. For instance, if the original PDF file was created by scanning a document thru a scanner, the conversion to Word may not have the same font or format as the original PDF. The reason is that a scanned type of PDF is a raster image. It means that it has to depend on the clarity of the picture. On the other hand, a PDF file that is generated by computer-aided design, which is not a raster image or scanned image, could be converted to a Word document almost perfectly.
For example, a document created by Adobe Acrobat Editor is an example of a PDF format generated by computer-aided design. This type of conversion is called a Vector base. Thus, that is why you should see some conversions are better than others.
